Christa Orth

Christa Orth is a Women's Studies Instructor and teaches courses in Women's Studies, sexualities, queer studies, queer history and the history of sexualities. Christa also teaches a senior capstone in Preserving Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer History. Christa moved to Portland after receiving an M.A. in American History from the University of Oregon and has been teach8ing at PSU since Winter 2006. Christa serves on PSU's Sexual and Gender Equality task force and on the committee for the forthcoming Gender and Sexualities minor. Christa's research interests include the intersections of sexuality and class, masculinities and femininities, and the workplace as a social space. Christa's graduate project looked at queers in the labor movement in the Pacific Northwest 1970-1995. Christa is the President of the Gay and Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest and is very much interested in the past, present and future of radical queer movements in the United States. Christa can also be seen around town as a drag/gender performer.
